Chanderpaul, 118 not out, was involved in a 160-run-partnership with Neil McGarrell(64), to rescue Guyana from a precarious 160 for 6. Electing to bat, Guyana lost three early wickets for before Ramnaresh Sarwan and Assad Fudadin repaired the innings with a 66-run partnership for the fourth wicket. After Sarwan(47) departed for Fudadin(24) it was left to Chanderpaul to hold the innings together and he did so magnificently, striking 17 fours in his 157-ball innings. McGarrell, making a comeback after missing three rounds, spanked six boundaries. They were particularly severe on Omari Banks, the offspinner, whose 2 wickets cost his 121 runs.
