Chelsea have been linked with a number of departures this winter with Nkunku, Joao Felix, Ben Chilwell and Axel Disasi expected to leave Stamford Bridge before the window shuts. Nkunku had been linked with the Blues' Premier League rivals Manchester United and the deal was expected to go through, however, the Frenchman has now decided to stay put at Stamford Bridge for the rest of the season.

According to The Athletic, no team had been interested in paying Chelsea's asking price of £65 million ($80.2m) for Nkunku. Manchester United did approach Chelsea about a potential loan but the Blues, and indeed Nkunku, were only interested in a permanent transfer. As such, United ended their interest as they continue to struggle for wiggle room financially after failing to sell Marcus Rashford, who went out on loan to Aston Villa. The situation means the Frenchman will now stay at Stamford Bridge.
