Speaking to the media, Fernandes said: "Sporting is a massive club, but United is a global club. [It is] unbelievable the attention and pressure we get.

"I feel the pressure. That's the good thing about football, and that's what we have to enjoy. When I finish my career, that will go away, and I will be much more relaxed.

"When I die, I have a lot of time to lay down with myself!"

WHAT NEXT FOR FERNANDES?

The United captain has now brought up his 27th goal contribution in the Europa League, joint-level on third with Romelu Lukaku. On the same, he said: "I knew I was around the 30s, but I didn't know how much exactly. It is a big part of my game, and I need to take that responsibility. The club bought me because I scored 32 goals in a season."
