Liverpool parted ways with manager Matt Beard back in February, following a period of underwhelming results. The 47-year-old had been in charge for almost four years, time in which he guided the team back to the Women's Super League and established them in the division, most notably with a fourth-placed finish in the 2023-24 season.

Amber Whiteley, Beard's assistant, was put in interim charge for the rest of the campaign and impressed many, with the 3-1 win over Manchester United at Anfield she oversaw particularly noteworthy. Her impact led many to believe she could be in serious contention for the permanent job but understands that Liverpool have held talks with Taylor, who left his role as Man City head coach in rather stunning circumstances back in March.
DID YOU KNOW?
After enjoying success coaching in the club's academy, Taylor spent almost five years in charge of Man City's women's team, delivering an FA Cup title and a League Cup title while playing an important role in the development of several young players, including England international Jess Park. However, his time was also marred by failed WSL title charges and the departures of many high-profile stars, with Ellie Roebuck citing a breakdown in her relationship with Taylor after Chloe Kelly had also moved on due to a serious lack of game time.

Though talks have been had, there is no suggestion in the report from that Taylor is on the brink of being appointed by Liverpool just yet. The Reds will hope to fill the vacancy sooner rather than later, with pre-season right around the corner.
