LAFC are in talks to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Antoine Griezmann, solidifying long-rumored interest in the playmaker, according to . He is out of contract at the end of the 2024-25 season.

The 33-year-old reportedly has a release clause that can be activated this summer for €10 million ($10.9 million.) Atletico Madrid have been active in their search for a forward this summer, and are said to be nearing a deal for Manchester City's Julian Alvarez.

Griezmann has scored 268 goals and added 119 assists over a nearly 15 year professional career. LAFC are just two points off the top of the Western Conference and six points out of the Supporters Shield trophy.

WHAT ANTOINE GRIEZMANN SAID

Griezmann has long been interested in an MLS move. The Frenchman admitted last year that he wants to play in America: "Saudi Arabia? I understand those who have to go there; we’re talking about incredible sums of money," Griezmann said. "Could I go? I have a family, three children. It’s not an easy decision to make. The MLS is still my priority.”

Griezmann could join a strong French contingent at LAFC. They signed former France national team goalie Hugo Lloris in December 2023. Lloris has made 24 starts for the Los Angeles club, making 64 saves with a 68.1 save percentage.

Olivier Giroud signed for LAFC in early May, and has yet to make his debut for the club.
