CARSON, Calif — Following the LA Galaxy's dramatic 1-0 win over the Seattle Sounders, the team loudly sang the lyrics of in the locker room.

It's a tune that might not be popular stateside (yet), but it means everything to LA. That's all down to the fact Joseph Paintsil, one of the team's stars, is the surprising artist behind the R & B song.

"They played it for me, especially when we won the trophy [Western Conference Final], they were playing and they were making videos, and I was holding the Cup and also singing, and it's really a good thing," the Ghanaian forward said on Media Day.

With the Los Angeles Galaxy set to host the New York Red Bulls in MLS Cup 2024 Saturday, Paintsil hopes he'll hear the song once again blaring as part of a final celebration after the final whistle.

The song's title "Blessed," is intentional, it's how the 26-year-pld forward in part has felt since coming to Los Angeles in a $9 million blockbuster transfer for the Galaxy. He enjoys the ability to balance the pursuit of on-pitch success with his passion of music off it.

WHAT PAINTSIL SAID

"It is just something that I really love to do when I was young," the Ghanaian said of his passion for music.

Jokingly asked if he aims to pursue that career professionally some day, along with being a professional footballer, he said one day — but at the moment, his focus is on the pitch.

"So the MLS Cup is something that is really dear to me, the Grammy can come maybe when I'm done… And yeah, on Saturday, when it happens, I think it's gonna happen again for me to also, you know, have a taste of my song and just sing towards my song, because if we win, it's also a blessing. So it's a blessing to that song."
