According to reporting by Diario AS, the former Ballon D'or winner is in danger of not being offered a new contract, and it is in fact more likely that a new deal will not materialise for the 39-year-old.

Modric's deal is up at the end of this season. He has previously said he would like to retire as a Madrid player, and was hoping to sign on with the club for at least one more year. It is believed clubs in Qatar are monitoring Modric's contract situation closely.
